Now this is definitely not the way to go. A blog that is password protected is just not the professional way to operate a membership site. With membership site software being so amazingly affordable these days and allows for extremely easy installation, it makes me curios why anyone would even consider going the route of a password protected blog. Membership site software gives you the means to cut off cancelled users or those refunded users while enabling you to prevent the users from sharing the protected information and then allow for different levels of access for your different users.
Another very big problem with a password protected blog site is that all your members have the same username and password. Each member obviously cannot have his or her own individual password and username. All your members will be given a username of say ‘Joe’ and a password of say ‘Blogs’. Then if a member chooses to leave the membership site, you will then have to change the username and password to say ‘ Jane’ for the ID and ‘Doe’ for the password. Doing this you then have to email every single member on your membership site. This makes for tedious work as members comes and go regularly.
With this type of password protected site, there is nothing to stop multiple people getting into the membership site and using it as they wish as you cannot see where they came from and tracking them is also difficult if they came from different IP addresses.
Creating a membership site with all your members with their own usernames and passwords is a better option since now you can see where they came from even if they logged on from ten different IP addresses. You can see from this type of activity and find out if that member is sharing his membership with others which may prompt you expel the member from your membership site.
Another feature of membership software is that different members will have different levels of access. There is nothing to stop you from running a live webinar and after that change it into a membership site to be paid monthly by the members to access the recorded version. For instance, the people who supported the webinar will be on a specific level you provide and given access from a direct download link but the members who pay monthly for their membership site will receive the webinar download links from a different link. You can also choose which recorded version they can have access to. as they are not entitled to those videos. By creating different levels you will be able to give each level different content but control all the levels from the same membership site.
A password protected free blog site does not offer all that control over your membership nor can you create different levels of members and you can control the members who choose to abuse your membership site.
The obvious route to follow is a membership software route and this can be obtained by visiting http://www.membershipcube.com where you will receive expert assistance in developing your own membership site.
